The device is intended for preparing the sample on the transparent track membrane

for microscopy in flotation investigation, for example, in parasitology.


Structure and Work


The scheme of device is shown in the drawing. The apparatus is placed on the rack 1, equipped with the bean (is not shown in the drawing) for connection to suction, vacuum-gauge 2, rarefaction regulator 3, ball tap 4 with the female conical connector 5 for the male conic 6 of the base 7. The membrane 8 (disk diameter 25 mm) is pressed between the base 7 and the cylinder 9 by the nut 10 with the damper 11. The cylinder 9 is hermetically closed with the cap 12 with the gasket 14. There are two holes in the cap 12. Through one of them the pipe 15 connects the space within cylinder 9 through bean 16, equipped with the liquid feeding needle regulator 17, with under the membrane 8 space. Through the other hole in the cap the pipe 18, connected the cylinder 9 with the atmosphere and through which the flotant is inflowed into the cylinder 9 over membrane 8, is passed.

The device works by the next way. Rarefaction is produced in the space under membrane 8 by a suction device (waterjet pump, surgical aspirator pump, vacuum-compressor etc.). When the regulator 17 is open, air passes in the cylinder 9 through pipe 18 and further from the cylinder in the space under membrane 8. If the pipe 18 end is immersed in a liquid, last is sucked into the cylinder 9 over the membrane 8. If the regulator 17 to be closed, the liquid over membrane 8 is filtered through it, leaving off microparticles on it. Left on the membrane 8 microparticles may be processed (rinsed, fixed, dyed, dried etc.) according a used method by the same feeding processing solutions onto the membrane 8. After the processing the membrane is placed on the slide for microscopic investigation.
